Hover a word for its meaning. Glosses draw on Amir Harrak’s translations and the SEDRA 3 Syriac lexicon (Beth Mardutho), used for academic purposes.

(1–5) This residential section and what is below it were built through the care of the Abbot Šmū’ēl Jamīl, Superior General of the Chaldean monasteries, during the days of the Fathers—their memory (6–10) is a blessing—Mār Pius X, Pope of Rome, Mār ‛Ammānū’ēl II, Catholicos-Patriarch of Babylon, and Mār Esṭappānos (11–15) Jibrī, the Metropolitan and Deputy General of the Chaldean Patriarchate, the year 1908 of our Lord. Superior General the Abbot Biniamīn ’Ūzā.

Line 3: Abbot Šmū’ēl Jamīl was Superior General of the Chaldean Order and was native of Tell-Kēf (AK). Lines 6-7: Pius X ruled from 1903 to the year of his death, 1914. Lines 8-9: On Mār Yawsep ‛Ammānū’ēl II see AA.17.02. Lines 10-11: Jibrī was the metropolitan of Kirkuk; see CA.01.05, CB.01.01. Line 14: The name and title of the Abbot Biniamīn were added later since they fill a space that is not theirs and the script is condensed and small in size. Line 15: Abbā ’Ūzā was native of Tell-kēf (AK).
