Lines 4-7: The direct speech is attributed to Bar-Hebraeus by his own brother Bar-Ṣawmō; see Assemanus 1719-1728, vol. II, p. 263. The learned prelate was born in Malatia in 1226, rose to the mafriōnūtō-rank in 1264, and died in Maragha (Azerbaijan) in 1286. Inside the cross: Ps 44:5. Lines 6 and 8: Badger misread the year as 1536 and the month as “August”.
