Hover a word for its meaning. Glosses draw on Amir Harrak’s translations and the SEDRA 3 Syriac lexicon (Beth Mardutho), used for academic purposes.

(1-5) In the year one thousand eight hundred and sixteen of Christ, in the month of First Tešrīn (October) on Sunday, our esteemed Father Bishop (6-10) Qūrillōs, who is ‛Abd-al-‛Azīz, died. He departed from this world of difficulties to the place of blissful and joyful life. May the Lord pardon him so that (he would be) with the first-born ones full of glory. (11-15) He departed in the days of the venerable Fathers Mōr Iġnātiōs the Patriarch Bihnām of Mosul and the mafriōnō [Bāsīliō]s Yawnōn. This shepherd left (16-18) this painful world for the luminous place above the celestial sphere. May his lot be, O my Lord, on your right side with Mōr Peter.
