English Translation

(1-5) (Garsh.) O Forgiver of sins, forgive your servant Deacon Ya‛qūb. (Syr.) Intelligent one: You shall thus write in the metre of St. Jacob: Pray for me O venerable priests filled with total love and O deacons with whom I sang in the tone of the flute. (6-10) I was happy with the pleasure and the writings and not … Death has struck the children of his people like Job. Do not be glad, everyone will go like me into the pit [with which] earth is filled, until the world disintegrates and becomes ruins. … famous, for I am the teacher [Ya‛qūb] (1112) … Yawsef the Deacon… in the year 1885 (of Christ).
