Hover a word for its meaning. Glosses draw on Amir Harrak’s translations and the SEDRA 3 Syriac lexicon (Beth Mardutho), used for academic purposes.

(1-5) Go, good old man, in Jesus and in the expectation of the day of resurrection. The honourable and chaste priest, Mīkō’ēl son of Mūšē—a revered and famous priest—slept, and he rests on this side (of the shrine). He departed from this world in one thousand nine hundred and five of our Lord. (During) the fifty-three years of his temporary life (6-10) he worked hard, toiled and wore himself out, admonishing without fear and teaching in the vineyard of Jesus our Saviour the word of the heavenly Father. Concerning the love of Jesus our Lord, he was never wearied by hard work, ending his temporary life in the practice of virtues. My beloved ones: let us imitate this priest in doing virtuous work. (1112) And let us ask for mercy and compassion from the compassionate Father so that he may set him on his right side on the great day of resurrection.
