(A1) (Metre of) Mōr Ephrem. God, God Almighty and the merciful, give reason to the lazy one so that he may speak a bit wisely concerning blessed Ēwannīs. In the year two thousand and fifty-five, during divine Lent, our father stood up without (A2) delay. Our Father with his zeal stimulated the faithful people of Kudēdā to take care of the building of the blessed Sergius and Bacchus.
(Community:) “Because you started with this deed, may God answer you while in difficulty, and may he assist you in (A3) building as said the Psalmist.”
(Bishop:) “The One who gave courage and reason to Noah to construct the ark will grant you, villagers [blank], to build this church.”
(Community:) “You, our Father, extend your arm and bless your diocese as Noah did, (B1) so that it may be saved like the animals, both the clean and the unclean ones.”
(Bishop:) “May the Lord bless you, may your yield grow into one hundred time more each one (grain); may he pardon your shortcomings, and give rest to your dead.”
(Community:) “The victory which the Lord has given to Noah and which he won over torrential waters, (B2) may He grant you, our venerable Father, over the vile (and) jealous ones.
(Bishop:) See and listen intelligent ones to what the Lord said to Moses: `Go down and build for me a holy dwelling so that my name may be glorified among the crowds.`”
(Community:) “May the good One who gave wisdom to Baslael so that He may construct the tabernacle (B3) grant you, our Father, to acquire all wisdom and all understanding.”
(Bishop:) May the Giver, who granted Pinhas assistance and he stopped the pestilence, save <this> community from every grief and anguish.”
(Community:) “You are a Priest like Melchizedek who (C1) offered bread and wine and built Jerusalem in the past, delivering the mystery of the (present) building.”
(Bishop:) “My children: let your hope not be lost as was with the people at the time of David. They gathered stones with entire perseverance but did not begin the building (of the temple).”
(Community:) “May our Lord grant you (to become) like Solomon: he built (the temple), (C2) kneeled down and prayed before the altar, and glorified God answered him.”
(Bishop:) “May my Lord give you grain, so that you and your animals may be fed, as well as hay for the burning of fire so that your heart may not be cold.”
(Community:) (C3) “May the Lord rejuvenate your old age and venerate your gray hair; let no injustice grip you and may you end your life in rest.”
(Bishop:) My Lord, assist the people of Kudēdā, men, young ones, and children, women, ladies, virgins, and little girls.”
(Community:) May the Saviour who granted Barnun victory and he annihilated kingdoms, (D2) give you gifts so that you may build and establish churches.”
(D1: Bishop:) May the living Cross full of light be the guardian of your village; may your seven churches be walls that cannot be vanquished by enemies.” (Written by) Yaldō.
