Abstract

his article compares the palaeography (the study of ancient writing) in Syriac stone inscriptions and manuscripts from three historical periods in Mesopotamia (Iraq): the 9th century, the Mongol Period (13th-14th centuries), and the Ottoman Period (15th-19th centuries). The author, Amir Harrak, highlights that while comparing epigraphic scripts with manuscript scripts is not standard practice, there are instances where the same calligrapher produced both.
